Former President Muhammadu Buhari’s assistant, Bashir Ahmad, sparked controversy on Thursday when he claimed that although Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential contender, is a fine man, those close to him will not let him realize his goal.

Ahmad said in a post on his X account that if Obi’s followers truly wanted him to win, they ought to suggest that he forgo the 2027 presidential race in favor of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Ahmad wrote, “Peter is a good man, but the people around him will never allow him to achieve his dream.”

He denounced what he called “reckless content” posted on social media by Obi’s associates, claiming that their public behavior might be a reflection of even more concerning private counsel.

“One can only imagine the kind of things you tell him privately, given the reckless content you post publicly,” he continued.

“Tell him to make sacrifices today so that others can make sacrifices for him tomorrow if you truly want him to succeed.” “Tell him to join us; once President Tinubu fulfills his mandate in 2031, everyone’s future is still open,” Ahmad wrote.

His remarks coincide with a scheme by prominent political figures, like as Peter Obi and former vice president Atiku Abubakar, to prevent Tinubu from serving a second term.
