According to Abayomi Tella, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, the opposition party could not afford to use a “try and error tactic” in 2027, therefore party members vying for posts have been urged to strengthen their ties with voters and the grassroots movement.
Tella said they would lose the election and their popularity if they didn’t establish rapport and trust.
At a session hosted by Toyin Amuzu, the PDP’s candidate for the 2023 election of the Abeokuta South federal seat, Tella spoke on Monday.
The chairman urged them to keep their differences in check and tell everyone about the party in every corner of the state.
“To everyone who plans to run, you won’t be able to get close to the electorate until roughly six months before the election.

“That’s why you lost elections and lost your popularity. Now that the election is still a long way off, build relationships with the public. Getting connected to the grassroots is important.
“I want to beg everyone to try to bring our party together using this platform.
Strength, whatever you call it, is in togetherness; we cannot afford to make the same mistakes twice. 2027 is our year, no doubt, but we also have some obligations,” he stated.
According to Amuzu, “I’m sure by now everyone would have a job if we have a lot of representatives, senators, and governors empowering people within their four years tenure.”
