Obasanjo’s ex-aide, Akin Osuntokun joins Labour Party

Akin Osuntokun, a former aide to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Labour Party (LP).

He is now the South West leader of the party, according to an announcement on Obidient TV, widely shared in the social media.

The statement described Osuntokun as a political scientist and researcher with experience in media advocacy & policy research.

Osuntokun, who is from Ekiti State, was a former managing director of the News Agency of Nigeria.

Political analysts said he has little on-field political experience.

He first made his link to Labour Party known on Sunday, when he appeared on a Channels TV programme, Sunday Politics.
