Hunter Biden, son of vice president, agrees to plea agreement regarding gun, tax charges

Trump slammed the agreement as a mere “traffic ticket” for Hunter Biden, who is currently facing felony charges in Florida for mishandling government secrets as well as charges in New York for paying hush money to a porn star.

Republican Representative James Comer, chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, which has launched an inquiry into the business dealings of the Biden family, criticised the plea deal as a “slap on the wrist.”

The Oversight Committee’s investigation, according to Comer, is unaffected by the accusations against Hunter Biden and the sweetheart plea agreement.

Ahead of the November 2020 election, Trump regularly attacked Hunter Biden for his work in China and the Ukraine.

In his memoir “Beautiful Things,” Hunter Biden disputes claims that he acted imprudently by serving on the board of the Ukrainian energy company Burisma while his father was vice president. He maintains that he did “nothing unethical” and denies any wrongdoing.

The House of Representatives impeached Trump in December 2019 for requesting political dirt on the Bidens from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ahead of the 2020 election. The Senate exonerated him.

Hunter Biden wrote about his battles with drug and alcohol addiction in his autobiography.

He wrote, “I’ve purchased crack cocaine from dealers on the streets of Washington, DC, and made my own inside a hotel bungalow in Los Angeles.

Hunter Biden, who was expelled from the Navy Reserve in 2014 after testing positive for cocaine, talks about how he started drinking heavily in his 20s, went to rehab, and relapsed after his older brother Beau passed away from brain cancer in 2015 at the age of 46.

In December 1972, only a few weeks after their father had been elected to the US Senate from Delaware, Hunter and Beau survived a car accident that killed their mother and sister.
