Man bags 17 months jail term for stealing phones in Kano
Abubakar Musa was given a 17-month prison term for stealing two cell phones worth 165,000.00 by a Shari’a court in Gama PRP Kano State on Tuesday.
Atlantan Abubakar Musa is charged with trespassing and stealing after allegedly breaking into a home.
He entered a guilty plea after the prosecutor, Aliyu Abidin Murtala, read the charges against him in court.
When the owner was sound asleep at night, the man allegedly broke into the home and took two cell phones worth 256 000 Naira (165,000.00).
The prosecutor requested that the court weigh the evidence before making a decision, and the court granted his request.
As a result, Justice Mallam Nura Yusuf Ahmad gave him a five-month term for breaking into a home and a one-year sentence for theft.
