After raiding a Ponzi scheme college in Abuja on Monday, 133 suspects were taken into custody by EFCC agents.
In a statement released Monday, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed the operation.
Oyewale stated that after obtaining actionable intelligence regarding the academy’s operations, the suspects were captured at the Compensation Layout in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
“The school, called Q University (also called Q-Net), enticed young Nigerians with the promise of irrational gains.
The tagline “Special Training for New Generation Billionaire” was used to train the recruits to further recruit others.
With marketing slogans like “I’m a Champion,” “I’m Unstoppable,” and “I’m Infinity,” the suspects signed up for the program by completing a “Independent Representative Application Form.”
The operation was carried out by the EFCC with assistance from officials from the Nigerian Army’s 176 Guards Battalion.
He stated that phones, computers, and other electronic devices were among the items taken from the accused.
“After the investigations are finished, the suspects will face charges in court.” (nan)
