Mike Magaji, the president of the Ochetoha K’Idoma youth wing, responded to the attack by expressing outrage at what he called the government’s failure to confront the state’s insecurity.
The fact that our people still live in fear while the government says nothing is tragic. How many more deaths need to occur before something is done about it? “,” Magaji said.
He also blasted Governor Hyacinth Alia for not taking any significant action to address the situation during his recent visit to Otukpo.
There was disappointment in the governor’s visit to Otukpo. Not ambiguous guarantees, but leadership, was what our people anticipated. Ending these attacks requires a well-defined strategy.
It is imperative that the government fulfill its obligations. “We cannot keep grieving for our people every day while the people in charge turn a blind eye,” he continued.
Catherine Anene, the Benue Police Public Relations Officer, said she had not yet verified the occurrence when this story was filed.
