Following the controversial disallowed goal of Pape Matar Sarr during Thursday night’s Premier League match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou vented his frustration with the video assistant referee (VAR).
Chelsea narrowly prevailed 1-0 in the end, but the result was tainted by the disqualification of two crucial goals, one for each team.
Enzo Fernandez’s header for Chelsea gave them the lead, but Moises Caicedo’s attempt was disallowed after a VAR review. Caicedo’s teammate Levi Colwill was found to have been offside during the buildup to the goal, which led to the ruling.

In a peculiar turn of events, Sarr’s long-range attempt was initially awarded in real time by referee Craig Pawson. Nevertheless, the decision was reversed following a protracted review that lasted roughly six minutes, leaving players and supporters perplexed.
In his press conference following the game, Postecoglou expressed his rage by referring to the decision as “crazy” and “madness.” “It’s killing the game, mate,” he said, expressing concern about how VAR is affecting the game’s integrity. The game has changed from what it was. It took six minutes for the referee to rule out the goal after awarding it. It’s crazy, buddy. This is insane.
