Remo Stars, the top team in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), will be closely watching today’s game between Rivers United, in second place, and Kano Pillars, four-time champions.
As both Remo Stars and Rivers United negotiate the pivotal portion of match-day 35 of the 2024–2025 NPFL season, this game is a title decider.
Rivers United has to draw in order to maintain their hopes of winning the title, while Remo Stars would win their first-ever NPFL title if they defeat the Niger Tornadoes on Sunday, April 27.

Under the guidance of former Super Eagles coach Finidi George, Rivers United is driven to win their second NPFL championship. Even though they have had difficulties this season, they still have a chance to turn things around. With four games left, they are now seven points behind Remo.
Before Remo’s next game against the Tornadoes, a victory for Rivers would increase their points to 61 and reduce the difference to four points. This outcome would delay Remo’s possible celebration and keep the title chase open.

With nine points still up for grabs in the final three games, the two clubs will still be motivated if their matchday 35 games conclude in a tie.

However, if Rivers loses and Remo Stars wins on the specified matchday, the Ogun-based team would have a great chance to win the championship this weekend with three games remaining.

With 47 points from 33 games, Kano Pillars is now ninth in the league. If they win tonight, they may have a better chance of qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup, depending on how well they play in the remaining games and how other contenders perform.
