After a thrilling 4-1 comeback victory over Lyon, which led to a 5-3 aggregate win, Arsenal advanced to the Women’s Champions League final for the first time in nearly 20 years.
The runners-up from the previous year, Lyon, led 2-1 going into the second leg. But Christiane Endler gave Arsenal the equalizer early in the game when she unintentionally scored an own goal.
After that, Mariona Caldentey put Arsenal ahead before halftime with a masterfully performed shot. Alessia Russo put in a third goal shortly after the interval to increase the lead.
Although Caitlin Foord’s goal appeared to give Arsenal the lead, Daelle Melchie Dumornay’s goal for Lyon with less than ten minutes left made for a tense finish. The squad will now get ready to play Barcelona, the two-time defending champions, on May 24 at Lisbon’s Estadio Jose Alvalade.

Since Arsenal hasn’t made it to a Champions League final in eighteen years, this accomplishment is very significant.
Lyon put up a surprise display during the game, but Arsenal’s planning and execution were excellent.
