Given that Messi’s 2021 move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain signaled the end of an era for the player and the team, his gesture of support was all the more heartbreaking.
Recall that on Thursday night, May 15, FC Barcelona won the La Liga championship for the 28th time in the club’s illustrious history.
They accomplished this incredible accomplishment on matchday 36 of the Spanish top flight league by defeating their city rivals, Espanyol, 2-0.
Fermin Lopez and Lamine Yamal, two gifted young players, scored goals to seal the victory and put Barcelona at the top of the league.
