Femi Branch, a seasoned Nollywood actor, has criticized his peers for not bringing professionalism to their work.
In an internet video that went viral, the movie star reportedly criticized performers who don’t bother to physically or emotionally change into their roles, instead showing up in the same way in each job.
Femi emphasized that these performers are defrauding their audience and called them scammers and amateurs.
He claims that rather than engrossing audiences in the role, the actors make them mentally filter out their personalities in order to follow the plot.
Hollywood actors like Joaquin Phoenix, Michael Fassbender, and even rapper 50 Cent, who underwent drastic physical changes for their roles, were all cited by the thespian.
Femi Branch went on to say that because performers are part of the profession, they do not own their bodies.
“I’m sorry, dude, you’re not professional,” he said, referring to a man who proclaims himself an actor but only has one appearance in each movie. You’re a phony.
“The audience must always remind themselves that they are performing your duties for you and not you. They are under stress because of you!
According to reports, Fassbender shed more than 60 pounds before gaining weight again a month later. Joaquin lost his ability to be identified as the Joker.
“You bald yourself if you must. If you must have warts on your face, then you do! Your body is a part of the craft, not of you.
You won’t ever see such actors in major projects because of this. Directors and producers are adept at sorting the good from the bad.
“If you want to be taken seriously as an actor in a field where popularity can occasionally overshadow talent, don’t just show up.” Take on the role. And to those who are more concerned with appearances than with doing research? Who gives a damn about your appearance? Instead of your selfies, people are paying for characters they can identify with.
