Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has expressed his strong desire to maintain club captain Bruno Fernandes, despite swirling transfer rumors and a substantial offer from Saudi Arabian giants Al Hilal.
In a news conference earlier today, Amorim emphasized Fernandes’ importance in United’s future ambitions.
“He’s really important for us and what we want to build with this team,” the Portuguese coach said, confirming his faith in the midfielder’s leadership and on-field effect.

The announcement comes amid speculation that Fernandes may leave Manchester United this summer, following his recent statements about his uncertain future at the club.
Manchester United’s dismal season — finishing 15th in the Premier League and missing out on European competition — has only added to the suspicion.

Despite the team’s troubles, Fernandes was a notable performance. His efforts were obvious in the season’s final match, a tight 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur that sealed United’s elimination from the UEFA Champions League for the next season.

Al Hilal is reportedly preparing a £100 million deal to lure the Portuguese international to the Saudi Pro League.

The big offer stirred eyebrows and put United’s determination to the test. Nonetheless, Amorim is hopeful of keeping his skipper.

Reflecting on Fernandes’ role on the club’s season-ending 2-0 victory over Aston Villa, he remarked, “In that game, the team was free of the usual pressure, and they performed admirably.” Everyone was eager to participate and demonstrate their abilities, and in critical occasions, Bruno stepped forward to take responsibility.”

Amorim’s words highlight not only Fernandes’ technical prowess, but also his influence in the dressing room, which the manager is eager to maintain while he rebuilds and repositions Manchester United for success in the coming season.
