According to ESPN, Manchester United has beaten out Premier League opponent Chelsea in their pursuit of Ipswich Town attacker Liam Delap.
According to reports, the Red Devils have told Ipswich that they intend to exercise Liam Delap’s £30 million release clause, provided the 22-year-old agrees to join the Old Trafford project of new manager Ruben Amorim.
Even though Ipswich Town was relegated from the Premier League, Delap had a fantastic season with the team, scoring 12 goals. Premier League teams including Chelsea, West Ham, Aston Villa, Everton, and Arsenal were interested in his performances.

After starting his professional career at Manchester City in 2020, Delap now seems certain to make a comeback to Manchester, this time wearing red.

But not everyone agrees that the move is the right one. Gabby Agbonlahor, the former captain of Aston Villa, recently cautioned Delap against joining Manchester United due to uncertainty over playing time and team stability.

Keep in mind that Manchester United placed 15th in the league standings at the end of the recently concluded 2024–2025 Premier League season. They were unable to qualify for continental football as a result.

When they advanced to the Europa League final, they had a chance to secure a ticket to Europe. Sadly, Tottenham Hotspur, another struggling Premier League team, defeated them to win the championship.

Given the upcoming summer at Old Trafford, Delap’s choice may have a significant impact on both his career and United’s offensive reconstruction.
