Ibori Congratulates Super Falcons on Historic 10th WAFCON Title
Chief James Ibori, the former governor of Delta State, congratulated the Nigerian Super Falcons for winning the 10th Women African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) championship, stating that they exemplified the resilience that Nigerians are renowned for.
The Nigerian women’s team rallied from a two-goal deficit to overcome Morocco, the host nation, 3-2 on Saturday at Rabat’s Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
Ibori stated in a statement on Sunday that the Falcons’ triumph had erased the sadness that Nigerians felt after the men’s team, the Super Eagles, fell to Ivory Coast in the 2023 AFCON final in February of last year.
“Congratulations to the Super Falcons of Nigeria, our beloved team. The enthusiasm of soccer among Nigerians worldwide has been boosted by your win at the just finished WAFCON. For many years to come, this recollection will persist. We feel happy and proud because of you. We owe you a debt of gratitude since your victory has further brought us together despite our differences.

In the face of obvious defeat, we applaud your unwavering fighting spirit, perseverance, tenacity, and never-give-up attitude. With your triumph over Morocco and your record-tying tenth championship, you have once again proven your dominance in African football.
Ibori praised the coaching staff, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), the Supporters Club, and all football-loving Nigerians for their encouragement and support of the players during the competition, while also applauding President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu.
