According to reports, former Super Eagles forward Brown Ideye responded to the team’s unexpected elimination from the 2024 African Nations Championship.
After a humiliating 4-0 loss against the Falcons of Sudan on Tuesday, Nigeria was eliminated from the competition.
Recall that Senegal, the reigning champs, defeated the Eagles 1-0 in their opening match.
Following the loss, head coach Eric Chelle has faced harsh criticism.
However, Ideye has supported the Malian, claiming that the nation lacks the necessary skills to compete on a larger scale.
“Every time we fail, let’s continue to deceive ourselves and place the blame elsewhere. The harsh reality is that we are not good enough. The coach will work with what you have, period. Additionally, we lack the skills necessary to compete on a larger platform,” Ideye commented on X.
Next Tuesday, the Eagles will play their final group match against Congo.
