Abdullahi Idris, the Kebbi State Governor’s Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, has denied allegations that Governor Nasir Idris gives government contracts or positions to political thugs.
Idris called the accusations “cheap and baseless” in a live appearance on TVC News on Tuesday.
He said that in order to make sure that only reliable and competent people are selected, the governor goes through a rigorous screening procedure before appointing people or giving contracts.
“Never, forever. For political considerations, the governor doesn’t make appointments like that,” he stated.
“The governor checks your credibility, sincerity, and honesty with your local government or emirate before granting you an appointment.”
Idris maintained that the traditional and religious authorities of Kebbi State are always involved in the process of screening candidates for appointments.
He questioned, “How can a religious leader, district head, or traditional ruler suggest a political thug for a government job?”
According to the governor’s adviser, the government does not condone or support violence in any way.
According to him, keeping the peace and luring in investment are the top priorities of the administration in order to raise living standards and provide jobs for Kebbi State residents.
“All of these statements are baseless accusations. Instead of encouraging violence, the governor’s priorities are state development, opportunity creation, and good governance.
