Rita Edochie: If You Accept To Be A Second Wife, You’re A Witch
Online comments have been triggered by Nollywood actress Rita Edochie’s remarks criticizing women who consent to be second spouses.
On Sunday, September 21, 2025, the actress reportedly posted a video of a preacher giving a marriage sermon on her Instagram profile.
In the video, the pastor denounced women who tie the knot with married men, calling such relationships immoral and damaging to families.
Rita Edochie endorsed the message and included more details in her post. Rita Edochie has been outspoken in her support of May, the estranged wife of actor Yul Edochie.
She emphasized that such decisions cause grief to other women and ruin families, claiming that women who choose to be second spouses do so out of selfishness and greed.
Women who follow this route, she continued, should acknowledge that it is immoral to take what is not theirs, rather than referring to it as love or destiny.
She contends that taking a second wife is a position that brings suffering and regret rather than honor.
She wrote: “You are nothing more than a witch and a second wife.” You’re merely avaricious; you’re not unique or innocent. You have made the decision to base your happiness on the suffering of others and to feed off of the tears shed by other women. Forget about calling it love; it’s evil. Covetousness is what you should call it, not destiny. Taking something that wasn’t yours and expecting to be praised? Not at all. A second wife isn’t royalty. She’s a usurper. You are the burglar who broke into a woman’s house while posing as a bride.
