Umo Eno, the governor of Akwa Ibom State, has said that losing his wife, Patience Umo Eno, is his greatest regret as governor.
According to reports, on September 26, 2024, the Akwa Ibom First Lady passed away in a hospital after becoming ill.
In an interview with Arise TV, Eno claimed that his ability to work with and touch the people of the state, as well as his emotional connection with them, is his greatest accomplishment.
Touching them, he added, involves making as many people smile as you can, especially in rural areas.
“I have two projects that stand out to me. For those in need, we have the Arise Compassionate Homes. You must visit the location where these individuals once resided. He added, “And now they can have a place they call home.”
“We’re working on 500 of these homes in every ward throughout the entire state, and we’ve completed 267 so far.
The next step is to determine how we can support our citizens’ entrepreneurial endeavors. That’s because I have experience with these young individuals needing training and then being provided with useful tools.
Giving these young men and women a helping hand and training entrepreneurship are two ways to boost the economy. I take those two initiatives very seriously.
Eno mentioned losing his wife while in government as his greatest regret.
It hurts. I wish she were with me at this moment. It can be difficult at times,” he remarked.
