“Why I Dropped the Otedola Name” – Mr Eazi’s Wife, Temi Explains
Temi Otedola, an actress and businesswoman and the daughter of billionaire Femi Otedola, has discussed why she chose to adopt her husband’s last name after marrying Afrobeats artist Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade, popularly known as Mr. Eazi.
According to reports, Temi Otedola formally took on her husband’s last name, becoming Temiloluwa Ajibade.
However, the decision sparked backlash online, with many claiming that she had given up the prominent Otedola name that had long characterized her public image.
Temi characterized the choice as a personal one in a Wednesday interview with the BBC.
Now that I’m married, it seemed only natural for me to adopt my husband’s name. However, it’s my choice, and I respect that every woman has the freedom to make her own decisions,” she said.
The actress added that maintaining the privacy of her relationship has allowed her to better manage her public persona.
“You can create your own narrative and share it when you’re ready by moving in silence.”
Temi discussed her father’s recently published memoir, saying it provides the public with a glimpse inside his decades-long business career.
She acknowledged his tenacity and disclosed that his choice to not directly involve his kids in his businesses encouraged them to forge their own careers.
“I was initially let down, but it ended up being a blessing. It inspired us to forge our own path,” she said, adding that his perseverance in trying circumstances continues to be her biggest motivation.
Temi went on to acknowledge her affluent background and emphasized the value of being open about it.
“Oh, of course. I will never deny it to you. People who are born into privilege should be aware of their advantages, she said.
