In a harsh warning against electoral misconduct, Abia State Governor Alex Otti emphasized that politicians who intend to rig elections should first draft their will.
The governor issued this warning on Thursday in a video posted on Channels Television’s YouTube page during the October episode of Alex Otti Speaks to Abians, which was hosted at the Government House in Umuahia.
Otti stated that the state’s 2027 election results will be determined by the people’s and God’s will.
The only advise I have for them is that if they really want to write results, they should write something else first. I’ve heard individuals close to him say, “Oh, they must take over this state, they must write results.”
Are you aware of what it is? Otti said, “their will.”
He was allegedly answering a query regarding recent statements attributed to Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, who said that the All Progressives Congress would seize Abia in 2027.
Following early political wrangling ahead of Abia State’s 2027 governorship race, he issued the warning.
After winning the 2023 election, the governor of the Labour Party reportedly put an end to the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) more than 20 years of rule in the state.
