Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, a former lawmaker, revealed a confidential discussion he had with President Bola Tinubu prior to the 2023 presidential race.
Murray-Bruce stated in a Friday interview with TVC News that the president has kept the commitments he made during the discussion.
“You are going to have 36 ministers and ministers of state, how are you going to run the economy with over 40 people you don’t even know?” the former lawmaker said to have asked Tinubu.
“I only need eight people to run Nigeria,” he claimed the president responded.
In response to opposition politicians who were criticizing the current administration, the APC chieftain said that President Tinubu had fulfilled his campaign pledges.
“He made the correct choices, and the economy has benefited from them. On my first day of work, he also surprised me by declaring that he would float and deregulate the currency.
“He did exactly what I asked him to do two years after I asked him,” the former congressman stated.
The former congressman recently switched to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
