According to Bells institution of Technology in Ota, Ogun State, twenty-four students who were expelled by the institution administration for a variety of infractions have now been given the opportunity to complete their education.
On the fringes of the university’s 17th convocation and 20th anniversary celebration, Vice Chancellor Prof. Jeremiah Ojerinde made this statement in an interview conducted in his office.
Prof. Ojerinde, whose tenure ends in 2026, discussed how the university has performed in recent years under his leadership. He stated that as part of the institution’s welfare approaches to issues and challenges facing students and staff, the institution started the amnesty program to give errant students a second chance to return to the school and finish their academic programs under strict conditions.
“Our amnesty program was initiated based on our welfare-oriented approach to issues,” he said.
“On the anniversary of the expulsion of several students in their last year, we questioned what we could do to lessen their misery. We stated that you could return if you were expelled during your last year, but you would have to follow our guidelines.
“Some of the impacted students have nearly completed their programs.”
One of the students who received amnesty has completed his final year thesis, according to Prof. Ojerinde.
Before he brutalized someone, one of them had even completed his project. About 24 of them are currently receiving amnesia from the institution due to our zero-tolerance and welfare approach to challenges.
The vice chancellor praised Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, the institution’s founder and former president, for surviving 17 consecutive convocations and 20 years of founding as the nation’s first private university of technology and a center of academic excellence.
The VC stated, “He expressed gratitude to the entire academic staff of the university for their uninterrupted journey for 20 years, despite the global shutdown of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
He declared that he expects Bells to obtain patents for designing and possessing items in his dreams.
“I’m thinking about that. As businesses, Bells has begun producing goods in large quantities, he said.
