Ali Ndume, the Senate Chief Whip, has accused those who work for President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa of demanding money before allowing the President access.
In response to the escalating diplomatic tensions between Nigeria and the United States, Ndume, the representative for Borno South Senatorial District, reportedly made the assertion in an interview on Arise Television.
The legislator bemoaned the fact that it is now nearly difficult for MPs and even high-ranking government officials to meet with the President without going through middlemen who purportedly seek payments.
“I don’t have a chance to see the President,” Ndume declared. He is only visible to me when he is attending an event.
The government is managed in this manner. There are no people there, I assure you. Kakistocrats control the majority of the government. The President will ask you how much if you wish to visit him.
The senator referred to individuals in the halls of power surrounding Tinubu as “kakistocrats,” which means “government by the least qualified or most corrupt.”
Ndume claimed that despite his attempts to speak with the President about crucial financial issues through official channels, he was frequently thwarted by bureaucratic roadblocks caused by assistants.
“They were playing games like they wanted you to go to heaven, but I wrote to them that I wanted to see the President to discuss some financial issues,” he continued.
