On Wednesday, November 12, suspected bandits are said to have shot and killed three security personnel in Idadu, Agbashi Development Area, Doma Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
It is known that the victims were two vigilantes and a police officer from the Agbashi Police Division who were ambushed while conducting a combined patrol.
Community sources told Vanguard that the gunmen unexpectedly opened fire on the operatives when they were on a routine patrol along the Doma–Idadu Road.
According to the source, the attackers fired at their victims with “commando-style precision,” showing no signs of provocation or attempt at compromise.
In the last week, at least seven people have died in the nearby settlements of Keana and Doma, adding to the growing wave of violence in the area.
The robbers, who are reportedly well-armed, have persisted in terrorizing locals around the area with frequent assaults.
The Nasarawa State Government has recently stated that it has stepped up security measures to stop the resurgence of attacks, but the killings still occur.
Residents claim that since the killings started, no suspect has been taken into custody, which has caused a great deal of anxiety and annoyance.
Local communities have persisted in protesting the wave of violence, calling for action from the international community as well as the federal government.
The ongoing attacks and the absence of arrests, according to the locals, are indicators of a deteriorating security situation that calls for quick action.
