Tension as APC Uncovers Alleged Plot to Attack Matawalle’s Convoy
The All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Zamfara State has asserted that certain politicians have employed armed thugs to sabotage Bello Matawalle, the state’s Minister of State for Defense, scheduled visit.
While briefing reporters in Gusau, Yusuf Idris, the party’s publicity secretary, revealed this.
Idris claims that the purported scheme was intended to divert attention from Matawalle’s upcoming homecoming celebration on Thursday.
The minister is anticipated to visit party leaders, members, and supporters in Gusau and his hometown of Maradun, he clarified, adding that the party has made sufficient preparations to welcome him.
Idris bemoaned the hiring of thugs to attack the minister’s convoy and wreak havoc along the Gusau–Maradun highway, especially in the vicinity of Tsafe.
“Unfortunately, we have reliable information that the minister’s visit is part of a serious, destructive plan,” he stated.
However, the party advised its members to abide by the law and refrain from carrying weapons while they were there.
“In order to maintain peace and order, we are therefore cautioning our members against carrying any kind of weapon during the minister’s visit and beyond,” Idris stated.
Additionally, he urged security services to be aware of the purported conspiracy and to make sure that anyone caught trying to stir up trouble is detained and turned over to law enforcement.
