The Global Watch for Good Governance (GWGG), an international civil society organisation dedicated to transparency, accountability and sustainable development, has named Hajiya Sa’adatu Onyashama Yahya, Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Scholarship Board, as the recipient of its prestigious 2025 Icon of Greater Nigeria/Woman of the Year Award.
The unanimous decision was reached at GWGG’s End-of-Year Conference held on Saturday, 15 November 2025 at Jasmine Hotel, Abuja, in collaboration with leading civil society organisations across Nigeria.
Hajiya Sa’adatu was recognised for her exceptional leadership and transformative contributions in educational administration, youth empowerment, anti-corruption initiatives, infrastructure development, and the overall repositioning of the Nasarawa State Scholarship Board as a benchmark of excellence in public service delivery.
The Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Education, recently. commended her for returning about N125m to government coffers after disbursing scholarship to eligible students of the State.
In the words of GWGG Country Director, Mr. Ikpa Isaac. “Hajiya Sa’adatu Onyashama Yahya represents the very best of selfless service and visionary leadership.
“Her quiet but impactful reforms have opened doors of opportunity for thousands of young Nigerians and restored public trust in governance institutions”he said
