Rauf Aregbesola, the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), launched a new assault on the ruling party on Tuesday, claiming that “God is not with them because they didn’t start with God.”
According to reports, Aregbesola made the remarks in Osogbo at the ADC’s launch, when he spoke to supporters about the country’s current situation and the political course ahead of the upcoming elections.
Aregbesola insisted that the current administration’s actions had deepened the country’s economic suffering, instability, and bad governance, accusing it of being self-centered and inept.
“They did their best, but God is not with them because they didn’t start with God,” he said. They are self-centered. In terms of the economy, security, governance, and other areas, they have been abhorrent.
He maintained that the ruling party has lost both public support and moral standing nationwide.
The former governor claimed that the ruling party’s typical tactics would not work and expressed confidence that the upcoming elections would not be rigged.
“We are aware of their strategies, therefore they cannot rig the election. He advised followers, “Go and start taking good care of old women who have reached menopause, dress them well, and let them sit in tens at various polling places on election day. Leave the rest to us.”
Aregbesola cautioned that attempts to rig elections would encounter fierce opposition from both divine judgment and the populace.
According to Aregbesola, the African Democratic Congress is still the most effective political option for saving the country from widespread insecurity, famine, poverty, and poor governance.
He said that the occasion was meaningful, commemorating 15 years since his administration took office in Osun State and pointing out that he had previously been sworn in as governor at the same site.
The former governor predicted that the ADC would take back control of Osun and gain significant traction across the country.
“We will definitely meet in Abere by August of next year; after August, we will assume the presidency,” he said.
According to Aregbesola, people in Osun State are still affected by his political legacy.
“People in Osun do not disagree with what we stand for anywhere in the city. Our accomplishments and contributions during our time here still speak for us. We have this kind of response every time we visit, especially in Osogbo, the state capital, he explained.
He insisted that the positive response from the populace demonstrates the ADC’s continued influence in Osun’s political environment.
