Corporate Update: Fidson Names Two Women as Independent Non-Executive Directors

Fidson Healthcare Plc, the top pharmaceutical business in Nigeria, has announced the appointment of two new female Independent Non-Executive Directors to its board: Mrs. Hannah Emanehi Oyebanjo and Dr. Mrs. Amina Mohammed-Baloni.

Temitope Akindele, Corporate Services Manager at Fidson Healthcare Plc, signed a statement stating that the strategic decision was made at a recent Board meeting with the goal of improving corporate governance and utilizing high-level, diverse expertise to support the company’s expansion drive and strategic vision.

According to the announcement, the appointments go into effect right away, although they are still pending shareholder approval at the following Annual General Meeting.

Dr. Mrs. Amina Mohammed-Baloni became an Independent Non-Executive Director when she joined the board. With more than 25 years of expertise in clinical care, policy creation, and health systems governance, she is a highly skilled physician and public health leader. She holds a Master’s in Public Health and is a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians. She is well known for her results-driven approach to enhancing community, maternal, and child health outcomes.

Prior to this, Dr. Mohammed-Baloni was Kaduna State’s Commissioner for Health, where she led significant changes. With the introduction of the Zipline drone collaboration for medical supply distribution, the pharmaceutical manufacturing MOU with PMG-MAN, and an excellent COVID-19 pandemic management, these reforms established the state as a leader in innovative healthcare delivery. As a non-executive director on the boards of the African Resource Center for Excellence in Supply Chain Management (ARC-ESM) and the Solina Center for International Development and Research (SCIDaR), she currently serves as chair of the board of the Bauchi State Specialist Hospital and oversees governance.

She holds degrees from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, INSEAD Business School, and Harvard Kennedy School of Governance.

Mrs. Hannah Emanehi Oyebanjo joined the board as an Independent Non-Executive Director in a similar manner. She is the Managing Director of Redwood Consulting, which is affiliated with The Republicom Group. She has over 30 years of experience leading businesses through development, transformation, and market leadership in a variety of sectors and industries. She is renowned for spearheading marketing efforts that have won awards and introducing items that define new categories for international corporations.

Prior to this, Mrs. Oyebanjo was the marketing director at GlaxoSmithKline, where she spearheaded important innovations that won numerous regional and international honors. In addition, she was the director of marketing at Colgate Palmolive. In 2025, she was assigned to the Faculty of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS). The Marketing Icon Award: Nigerian Marketing Award, 2025, and the Lifetime Achievement Award: WIMCA (Women in Marketing and Communications) 2025 are only two of the several awards she has received. She belongs to both the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) and the Chartered Institute of Directors (CIoD). Mrs. Oyebanjo is a graduate of the University of Cape Town and Lagos Business School with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Master of Business Administration. She is a marketing and leadership thought leader, an executive coach, and a conference speaker.
