Brigadier Kingsley C. Uwa, the Commander of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke OPWS, has called for a renewed dedication to peaceful coexistence in Taraba State’s Ibi local government council and warned that security forces will no longer put up with acts that could incite violence.
The call was made on Wednesday at a security meeting for stakeholders at the Palace of the Chief of Ibi by Brigadier Uwa.
He said that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the ongoing tensions between the various communities in the area as well as the increase in criminal activity.
He denounced recent instances of people stopping farmers from harvesting their crops, characterizing such actions as risky provocations that might turn into violent confrontations.
He further emphasized that going forward, security authorities would take swift action against anyone engaged in such misbehavior.
Additionally, the Brigade Commander reminded community leaders and traditional rulers of their duty to uphold peace within their territories and warned that security forces will take strong action against anyone found inciting conflicts.
According to our reporter, traditional leaders, government representatives, community leaders, and members of several security services attended the gathering.
Threats like the inflow of criminals from neighboring states, farmland disputes, illicit crop harvesting, and unsolved chieftaincy concerns in Dampar, Tapga, Sarkin Kudu, and Gidan Kiye were also discussed.
