The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has sent an invitation to former Federation Attorney-General Abubakar Malami (SAN).

The former Justice Minister reportedly stated that he would answer the agency’s request.

Malami, who served as president under former President Muhammadu Buhari from 2015 to 2023, posted the information on his social media accounts.

He declared that he is dedicated to maintaining openness and adhering to due process.

Malami was involved in high-profile legal cases throughout his term, such as asset recovery initiatives, anti-corruption reforms, and publicly reported government rulings.

He has been under investigation in recent years for issues like fund management and asset declarations, which he has continuously disputed.

The invitation’s specifics and the particular problems being looked into have not yet been disclosed by the EFCC.

Malami promised to update the public on developments.

He posted on Facebook, saying, “This is to confirm that the EFCC has invited me.”

“As a law-abiding, patriotic citizen, I hereby repeat that I will accept the offer.

“I am aware of the values of transparency and accountability in public service, which I support and promote.

“With a foundation in public service and a commitment to accountability and transparency, I am dedicated to informing the Nigerian public about developments as they happen.”
