Enugu Community Protests as Gunmen Kidnap Five Villagers, Injure One
In response to the purported kidnapping of five people and the gunshot of another during an attack on the village, some women in Ezimo community, Udenu Local Government Area, Enugu State, organized a demonstration on Saturday.
The demonstrators claimed that the incident had increased local anxiety and insecurity as they marched through significant areas of the community.
One of the attack victims is being treated in the hospital right now.
On Saturday, “Sen.” Chijinkem Ugwuanyi, a social media personality, announced this on Facebook.
According to Ugwuanyi, a resident who verified the incidence stated that the community was unsafe due to recent kidnappings and gunshots, which caused the women to call for immediate government action.
The demonstrators warned that locals could no longer live in continual fear of attacks and urged the Enugu State Government and security services to intervene and restore calm in a video posted on Ugwuanyi’s Facebook page.
