Femi Fani-Kayode, a former minister of aviation, has denounced what he called a brutal media campaign against Bello Matawalle, the minister of state for defense.

Fani-Kayode wrote on Thursday via his verified X handle that the attacks on Matawalle, which were purportedly planned by the opposition, were disgusting and despicable.

He said that since taking office, the minister had shown extraordinary devotion to President Bola Tinubu and dedication to combating terrorism.

He said that Matawalle’s collaboration with Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Advisor, had produced notable successes in the fight against terrorism.

“He and NSA Nuhu Ribadu have killed more terrorists in the last two years than in the previous eight combined,” he claimed.

“My only grouse is that, for some reason, they do not make this public and let the world know about it, which I think they should,” the former minister of aviation said, criticizing what he saw as government officials’ unwillingness to highlight security achievements.

He advised Matawalle to stay focused and disregard attempts to defame him, stating that the minister had gained respect for his bravery and toughness in facing state foes.

“Despite all efforts to discredit and undermine my friend and brother, Matawalle, I urge him to stay focused, to continue the good work, and to ignore the ‘bad belle’ distractions,” he wrote.
