According to reports, unidentified gunmen have abducted Hon. Wale Oriade, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State’s Ibadan South West Local Government Area.

Around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oriade was reportedly taken away by unidentified gunmen as he was leaving his office in the Akala Expressway district of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

According to Taoreed Sanusi, an Instagram user who reported the event, the victim was caught by three armed guys and coerced into a blue Micra car.

The state capital’s well-known commercial transportation system, Micra, has been connected to criminal activity in the sizable metropolis.

His phone was taken, and the attackers left the area in an unidentified direction. He stated, “His safety is still our first priority.
Senator Teslim Folarin, a former Senate Leader and 2023 APC candidate for governor of Oyo State, reacted to the incident on Thursday by expressing shock over the kidnapping.

“Hon. Wale Oriade’s kidnapping really disturbs me. Folarin declared, “This incident is unacceptable and a painful reminder of the growing insecurity facing our dear nation.”

He urged the security services “to act decisively and deploy every necessary resource to ensure his immediate and safe rescue.”

As security personnel step up their efforts, Senator Folarin asked party members and locals to be calm and sent his thoughts and prayers to the family of the kidnapped lawmaker.

“We cannot allow criminals to take control of Oyo State. Every citizen must be protected, our security architecture must be strengthened, and intelligence sharing must be improved.

“May Almighty Allah protect Hon. Oriade and bring him home without incident,” he exclaimed.
