On Thursday, a group inside the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State rejected worries that the newly formed African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition would pose a threat to the ruling party before the general elections in 2027.
According to reports, the political group’s submission coincides with former vice president Atiku Abubakar’s official registration as an ADC member in Adamawa State. This action has raised rumors that Abubakar may run for president under the party’s platform.
Opposition realignment has been sparked by rumors that Atiku would run for president of the ADC in the general election of 2027.
However, the ADC poses “no threat” to President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term, according to a statement released on Thursday (today) by Adesuyi Adojutelegan, Director-General of the Ondo APC group.
It is evident that the APC cannot be overthrown by ADC. We are aware that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president, has now joined them, but we are not concerned because Tinubu will still win even if he runs for president, he said.
Prior to the 2027 elections, Adojutelegan urged APC members to step up their mobilization in Ondo South. He had already inaugurated the group’s ward and local government coordinators in Okitipupa.
“To be honest, Tinubu has no opposition for this upcoming election in 2027,” he continued. The President’s performance is self-evident.
He claims that Tinubu’s attempts to combat insecurity are evident.
“Everyone can see that he is actively addressing our security challenges, and I am confident he will make Nigeria safer so that everyone can live without fear or intimidation,” he declared.
Citing two years of “numerous achievements,” especially in the area of national road infrastructure, Adojutelegan insisted that Tinubu is still Nigeria’s best choice, characterizing the ADC as “a party of aggrieved politicians trying to undermine Tinubu’s achievements.”
He also mentioned policies that “enhance educational access for underprivileged students,” such as Tinubu’s student loan program and economic initiatives.
The coordinator of the organization praised Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the interior minister, for his “invaluable support” of the state’s APC structure.
He gave the recently appointed coordinators the task of aggressively spreading the Tinubu message throughout communities.
“I urge everyone to participate in vigorous campaigning throughout the wards in the six local government areas of the southern senatorial district,” he declared.
