As they get ready for a challenging road trip to Bayelsa United, Remo Stars head coach Sulaiman Folarin has stated his team’s goal to complete the first half of the 2025–2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) without another loss.

After a mixed start to the NPFL season—seven wins, one draw, and eight losses from 16 league games—the Sky Blue Stars enter Matchday 17. Folarin maintains that his men are committed to finishing the first round on a high note despite the uneven performance.

Folarin stated to Remo Stars media, “Our plan is not to lose any match in the first round again.”

“We’ll go to Bayelsa United, fight, and hope for the necessary outcome.”

On Sunday, Bayelsa United and Remo Stars will play at Yenagoa’s Samson Siasia Stadium. Both teams are vying for crucial points as the season picks up steam.

In other news, Rivers United’s technical adviser Finidi George has commended his team following their valiant 2-1 victory over Plateau United on the road in Jos, which moved the Pride of Rivers to second position in the NPFL standings.

With 30 points from 15 games, Rivers United is still very much in the running for the championship. Finidi emphasized the tenacity and tactical discipline of his players, particularly following a difficult first half.

After the game, Finidi told Rivers United media, “It’s an important win.”

“I thought we had some difficulty in the first half. We gained an advantage in the second half by applying a little more pressure, pushing a little higher, forcing them to kick the long balls, and searching for the second ball. We had the entire field to work with even though we won the second ball.

When Rivers United hosts Wikki Tourists in their upcoming league game on Sunday, they will want to build on that momentum.
