Adeniyi Kayode, the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the deadly collision that killed two of Anthony Joshua’s companions, has been charged in court, according to the Ogun State Police Command.

Kayode, 46, was reportedly charged on Friday in front of a Magistrate Court in Sagamu, Ogun State.

Mr. Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Ogun State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, made the announcement in a succinct statement.

The court postponed the case to January 20, 2026, for additional proceedings, according to the police spokesperson.

Nevertheless, neither the precise accusations that were submitted against the defendant nor any information about the accident’s circumstances were provided by the authorities.

“The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the Anthony Joshua accident case, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode (male), aged 46, was charged to the Sagamu Magistrate Court today, January 2, 2026, and the case has been adjourned to January 20, 2026,” the statement stated.

Following the driver’s previous detention following the devastating incident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway that claimed the lives of two members of Joshua’s crew, the police took action.

Prior to this, Babaseyi had acknowledged the arrest and stated that investigations were still underway.

In relation to the Anthony Joshua accident case, the driver of the Lexus SUV is presently being held. He said, “Investigations are ongoing.”
