After performing in Nollywood, Grace Charis Bassey is now a member of the U.S. Navy.
On Instagram, the 33-year-old actress declared that she had finished boot camp with the US Navy.
She has now obtained U.S. citizenship.
Grace Charis Bassey, who was once known as Belinda Effah in Nollywood, has recounted the amazing story of how she joined the U.S. Navy after performing in Nigerian cinema.
The actress, 33, declared on Instagram that she had successfully finished her boot camp in the U.S. Navy and was now a U.S. citizen. She acknowledged the difficult journey it took to get there and shared a picture of herself in her Navy uniform, expressing her sincere gratitude to God, her family, and her supporters.
I took the oath as a U.S. citizen last week after graduating from U.S. Navy boot camp as a Sailor. I was reared in Nigeria. America put me to the test. I am more resilient and resolute than ever today. I’m grateful to everyone who had faith in me. This is only the start. In memory of Naval CDR Asido Bassey Effah, my late father.
Fans who recall that she changed her name from Belinda to Grace in 2021 were especially upset by her update. Grace revealed in a prior interview with The PUNCH that she felt God granted her a new name after having a spiritual awakening.
She stated:

“The literal meaning of Belinda is ‘beautiful serpent.'”
She went on to say:
“After having a divine encounter, God changed my name to Grace.”
She said that the name change was a component of a rebranding initiative meant to better fit with a higher purpose. She promised her supporters that her essential identity and beliefs would not change even though she had changed her name.
