Prior to the 2027 general elections, Nollywood actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of using intimidation techniques to weaken opposition parties.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain and former National Officer of the Labour Party reportedly made the accusation on Monday, October 27, 2025, on Arise Television’s Morning Show. He said that the APC was using political thugs and security forces to sabotage opposition activities nationwide.

“ADC is blazing.” Okonkwo stated, “The only thing is that we have an APC that is using every tactic to intimidate and scatter the opposition’s plans.”

The former Labour Party spokesperson claimed that thugs operating under the supervision or protection of security personnel had interrupted ADC gatherings in Kaduna, Lagos, and Ekiti States.

He explained that the instances were a part of the ruling party’s larger plan to stifle and weaken opposition voices before the upcoming general election.

“Our meetings across states have been repeatedly attacked,” Okonkwo stated.

“It is regrettable that the opposition is being frustrated by security agencies, which ought to provide equal protection to all political actors.”

Okonkwo criticized what he called the APC’s exploitation of state institutions, claiming that such actions go against the spirit of the Electoral Act, which ensures that all parties have equal protection and freedom of political association.

“To annoy others, the APC is utilizing every branch of government.” Every political party should have equal protection, which goes against the Electoral Act’s requirements, he claimed.

Okonkwo emphasized that the ruling party’s persistent use of intimidation and repression is a sign of desperation and fear of losing power in 2027.

Okonkwo insisted that the APC is already disintegrating internally and voiced hope that the ADC would win the upcoming general elections despite the purported attacks.

“The Federal Republic of Nigeria’s next government will be formed by ADC. We’re planning, and we’ll defeat this APC,” he said.

“All these endorsements are just a collection of sycophants, and they are already imploding.”

Okonkwo called on Nigerians to maintain their fortitude and to back political parties dedicated to fairness, openness, and genuine democratic reform.
