As part of its restructuring process, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company PIc (AEDC) claims to have fired a few employees who did not perform up to par.
According to media sources, the DisCo carried out a mass layoff that affected over 800 workers.
According to the sources, the management had originally intended to fire 1,800 workers, but that figure was ultimately lowered to 800.
The business confirmed firing the employees in a statement on Friday, although it did not reveal how many people were impacted.
The announcement states, “In keeping with its corporate transformation strategy, the management of Abuja Electricity Distribution PIc (AEDC) hereby announces a restructuring exercise aimed at delivering improved services to our customers as well as enhanced operational efficiency and excellence.”
The reorganization aligns with our strategy goal of being more customer-focused, inventive, and nimble.
“We have implemented a strong employee development and customer management plan aimed at driving our customer-centric focus, released retiring employees and those performing below par, and promoted high-performing staff as part of the transformation.”
The AEDC reiterated its dedication to providing consumers in all of its service regions with dependable, secure, and sustainable electricity while fostering the expansion and advancement of Nigeria’s energy industry.
