The Council Chamber of the Kebbi State Government House in Birnin Kebbi hosted a closed-door meeting on Thursday night for governors chosen on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The meeting, which was presided over by Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Hope Uzodimma, was said to have concentrated on urgent national concerns as well as internal issues that affected the ruling party.
Despite being in Kebbi State, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, the national chairman of the APC, did not attend the meeting.
Yilwatda has other events in the state on his itinerary, according to a report from Channels Television on Friday.
A statement announcing his presence revealed that Yilwatda would be attending the opening of the Tinubu Kauran Gwandu Movement for Continuity State Secretariat in addition to the PGF meeting.
Yilwatda stated, “APC governors will discuss important national and party issues in closed-door sessions over the next two days.
“As a party, we continue to be dedicated to upholding unity, sound governance, and the Renewed Hope vision for all Nigerians.”
According to what was understood, the APC Governors’ meeting takes place as the number of governors in the party’s governors forum continues to rise as a result of PDP governors defecting to the ruling party.
While Governor Douye Diri, who also left the PDP, is expected to join the ruling party soon, Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah joined the APC’s roster of governors this week.
