Arewa Youth Federation Demand the Immediate Resignation of Dr. Betta Edu, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation within 72hours or Face Mass Protest

In line with our fundamental principles and commitment to the fight against Corruption in Public Office, the Arewa Youth Federation demands the immediate resignation of the Honorable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Dr. Beta Edu without further delay, because we believe that her continued stay in office poses a grave danger and threaten the foundational values of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a party and also undermines the President’s unwavering dedication to combating corruption in our nation.

President of the AYF, Adamu Kabir Matazu said the fight against corruption remains the cornerstone of the APC principles, which set us apart from the corrupt practices that plagued the nation in the past. The weighty allegations against the Minister tarnishes the image of President Tinubu administration, casting doubts on the strides made in the fight against corruption.

Another disturbing reports from Sahara Reporters detail suspicious financial transactions, including the movement of N226 million to Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo states preceding the recently held gubernatorial elections, the diversion of public funds through personal accounts, the use of a so-called Kogi Airport that only exist in her imagination to divert public funds and brazen stealing of our common wealth.

The continued stay of the Minister in office also jeopardizes the Renewed Hope agenda and the President’s commitment to the fight against corruption and poverty alleviation, a key promise of this administration. Nigerians enduring multi-dimensional poverty look up to the government for support, relief and welfare and this expectation is undermined by the alleged actions of the Minister that was supposed to oversee the realization of these noble objectives.

The Arewa Youth Federation, unequivocally condemn the disgraceful action of the Minister and stands against the flagrant misappropriation of public resources meant for the less privileged. Even though, the federal government is currently investigating the alleged infractions but the Minister must step aside in order to give room for open and transparent investigations.

Finally, we hereby issue a 72 hours ultimatum to Dr. Betta Edu to toe the path of honour and immediately resign before she further taint the image of President Tinubu administration. Failure to comply within the next 72hours will result in a mother of all protests by Nigerian Youth, as we refuse to allow the wanton plunder of resources meant to uplift the lives of our citizens by a corrupt kleptomaniac.

We implore Dr. Betta Edu to spare herself further disgrace and safeguard the reputation of this administration, if indeed she holds allegiance to the President and the nation.
