Arsenal Goalkeeper David Raya Signs New Contract
David Raya, the first-choice goalkeeper for Spanish coach Mikel Arteta, has been rewarded with a better contract at Arsenal.
David Raya, who moved permanently to the Gunners from Brentford in the summer of 2024, has agreed to new terms that include an increase in his previous weekly salary of £100,000 per week. The club has not yet released an official statement, but according to BBC Sport, the deal was finalized early this summer.
Although there is an opportunity to add more years, Raya’s current contract, which expires in 2028, is not extended by his new agreement. However, the improvement is viewed as acknowledgment of his outstanding performances since assuming the top spot at the Emirates.
Raya has quietly established himself as one of the Premier League’s top goalkeepers since joining on loan from Brentford in 2023. After another consistent run of clean sheets, he shared the Golden Glove title with Mats Sels of Nottingham Forest, which he had earned in his first season.
Behind the scenes, Arsenal has been attempting to ensure the long-term future of their main players. Gabriel Magalhaes reportedly extended his contract till 2029, while center-back William Saliba recently inked a new five-year contract. Additionally, negotiations for a new, long-term contract with Jurrien Timber are moving forward.
With talks reportedly nearing completion, there is also growing hope that Bukayo Saka will sign a contract shortly.
