Asari Dokubo, the Amanyanabo of Torusarama Piri in Rivers State’s Degema Local Government Area, has pledged to support President Bola Tinubu’s reelection campaign in 2027.
According to reports, Dokubo made the promise on Tuesday while Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike was at his palace.
He claimed that President Tinubu helped him when he needed supporters, and therefore helping him secure a second term would be retaliation.
“As you stated, my buddy, I will support you in ensuring the success of my friend, the President, no matter what happens.
“I will do everything within my power to ensure his success.
When we first met in 1992, I was not a conventional dictator. I never imagined that I would grow into the person I am today.
“He supported me during my most trying time, and now it’s my turn to do the same for him,” he remarked.
Wike had previously stated that the purpose of his visit to the community was to express gratitude to the locals for their support and to explain to them why they ought to back Tinubu in 2027.
He also expressed gratitude to Dokubo for the cordial welcome.
“I am aware that traditional leaders don’t engage in political activity.
The Minister remarked, “You are my friend, and I felt that there’s no way I would come here, where you reside, and your kingdom without coming to greet you and say happy new year.”
