Following an early-morning attack allegedly carried out by armed individuals suspected of being Fulani herders, inhabitants of the Tse-Atim hamlet in Ugbaam, Ukum Local Government Area, Benue State, are in a state of fear.
Local sources claim that the attackers broke into the neighborhood early on Tuesday morning, kidnapped a number of inhabitants, and then fled into the bushes.
It was not immediately possible to determine the precise number of those abducted.
Villagers are in a panic as a result of the tragedy, and many have left their houses in fear of more attacks.
To guarantee the safe return of the kidnapped individuals and stop a repetition, community members are urging security services to act immediately.
In order to restore peace and safeguard lives and property, traditional leaders and local authorities have urged the federal government and the Benue State Government to send more security forces to the region.
