Bimbo Akintola, a Nollywood actress, has disclosed the reason behind her steadfast and strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. She claims that her choice to increase her support for the current president was influenced by a personal encounter with an opposition supporter.
In a recent appearance on With Chude, Akintola revealed that after an opposition supporter verbally harassed her for her decision, her initial support for Tinubu during the previous election became even stronger.
The actress stated that she decided to strengthen her support for Tinubu as a result of the bullying.
Akintola revealed that her political views changed as a result of the criticism she endured for supporting Tinubu. In reaction to the criticism, she decided to strengthen her support for the then-APC candidate rather than back down.
Akintola also emphasized during the discussion how important it is to accept other people’s political beliefs and decisions.
“I supported President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the last election because someone irritated me with their bullying,” she stated.
“Nigerians irritate me.” Avoid intimidating others. Differing opinions are a right. It’s okay if you don’t like Tinubu; you have the right to do so. It’s good that you like this guy. But don’t harass other people.
“They harassed Auntie Joke [Silva] so much that someone wrote something so cruel. “I’m also supporting Tinubu, kill me, let me see if you can change my mind,” I stated in a video.
“Bullying must end. We must acknowledge that we will never be able to agree with everyone. That’s what gives us our greatness and beauty. Life would be dull if we were all the same. You may disagree that he was the best candidate for the position till tomorrow, but at that moment, I desired and voted for him. My voice is mine, and you cannot take it away from me.
