Two people who were allegedly discovered with charms in the Mandara Mountain region of the Gwoza Local Government Area in Borno State were allegedly beheaded by Boko Haram militants who supported the Ali Ngude faction.
The Islamic sect accused the killed women of practicing idolatry.
On Monday, November 24, 2025, security and counterintelligence specialist Zagazola Makama wrote on his X account (formerly Twitter) that the victims were captured by terrorists who claimed to have discovered charms (layu) during a search of their settlements.
“In the video, the insurgents claimed the charms found on the women were evidence of prohibited practices and immediately subjected them to the faction’s makeshift trial system,” he said.
When they discovered several charms on the two women, they accused them of engaging in shirk. Following the alleged trial, the terrorists transported them to a remote area of the highlands and put them to death.
According to his testimony, “to instill fear and enforce obedience to the faction’s doctrines, the execution was carried out publicly in the presence of other fighters and people.”
In recent months, the Ali Ngulde faction has stepped up its punitive actions, killing some people for trying to defect and accusing others of sorcery and spying.
