A 24-year-old butcher named Mathew Danjuma was given a one-year prison term for stabbing a coworker by an area court in Jos on Monday.
However, Danjuma was given the choice of paying a N50,000 fine by the judge, Mr. Shawomi Bokkos, who sentenced him to prison after learning of the crime.
Additionally, he mandated that he give the complainant N35,000 in compensation.

According to Bokkos, the verdict would act as a deterrent to those who might want to commit such acts.
Earlier, Ibrahim Gokwat, the prosecution’s attorney, informed the court that the complainant, Umar Muhammed, had filed the case at the Jos C’ Division on May 21.
In an altercation with Muhammad, the prisoner allegedly became enraged and stabbed him with a knife, according to Gokwat.
He claimed that the offense was in violation of Section 241 of the Plateau State Penal Code.
