Veteran entertainer Charles Oputa, better known by his stage name Charly Boy, has described how Peter Obi, the previous Labour Party presidential candidate, surprised him with a “Ghana Must Go” bag.

The socio-political activist wrote on his X handle that he received a call from Obi at around 1 am, informing him that Obi would be paying him a courtesy call at around 5 am.

According to the artist, he complied in spite of his schedule, and the former governor showed up at his residence carrying the Ghana Must Go bag, which contained some fruits.

“When I come downstairs to meet him, na so I see one big Ghana,” Charly Boy wrote in pidgin English. You have to pass my sitting room’s entrance. As I glance at the bag, I wonder: What could possibly fit inside of it?

For about two hours, we discussed Nigeria, politics, family, and other topics.

“So Obi comes and says, ‘Look, I’ve brought you this little thing.'” I didn’t even open it before saying, “Thank you, sir.”

“I say make sure I peek into this bag as Obi waka goes. You can’t fathom getting wet inside this sack, my people.

Three bottles of roasted ground nuts were found within the bag. Obi packed a lot of items by himself, including bananas, oranges, agara, pawpaw, kolanuts, alligator pepper, and mangos.

“I simply don’t know when I’ll start laughing.”

“He said, ‘Senior, I don’t fit give you money, but I fit give you this one, na my hand pick,’ when I called him to thank me. What sort of indigenous intelligence is superior to this one?

A member of the Obidient movement and a fervent advocate of Peter Obi, Charly Boy had actively campaigned for the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election.
