Chelle Omits Osimhen, Lookman from Super Eagles Squad for Ghana and Russia Matches [Full List]
Victor Osimhen and Ademola are not in the Super Eagles’ roster for their match against Ghana in the Unity Cup, according to head coach Eric Chelle.
Following the announcement of the invited players’ list by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Wednesday afternoon, this was verified.
Lookman and Osimhen will also be absent from Nigeria’s matches against Russia.
However, captain Ahmed Musa, Frank Onyeka, Kelechi Iheanacho, and goalie Maduka Okoye are all back.
The NPFL team consists of Waliu Ojetoye (Ikorodu City), Ifeanyi Onyebuchi and Collins Ugwueze (Enugu Rangers), Sodiq Ismail (Remo Stars), and Junior Harrison Nduka, captain of both the Remo Stars and the CHAN-bound Super Eagles B.
The team also includes Adamu Abubakar (Plateau United), Sikiru Alimi (Remo Stars), Papa Daniel Mustapha (Niger Tornadoes), and Saviour Isaac (Enugu Rangers).

Established players like Moses Simon, Stanley Nwabali, Wilfred Ndidi, Samuel Chukwueze, Cyriel Dessers, Nathan Tella, Tolu Arokodare, and Kelechi Iheanacho will compete for positions against these homegrown stars.
The Unity, which will take place from May 26 to May 31, will be led by Musa. Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica, Ghana, and Nigeria are the four participating countries.
On June 6, Russia and Nigeria will play an international friendly at Moscow’s famous Luzhniki Stadium.
The match will be the two nations’ first-ever senior international encounter.
According to Chelle, the competition “will give us the chance to try out a few new players in different roles, helping us to strengthen our squad before the matches in September and October.” Chelle hopes to test new players and strategies in advance of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
